GCSE Options
Moving from Year 9 to Year 10 is a critical point in a young person’s educational journey as it is the first time that they can truly exercise some choice about what they are studying. Selecting which (I)GCSE courses they would like to study in Year 10 is an important step towards shaping their future as it can influence the opportunities available to them regarding post-16 education (Sixth Form), university and the world of employment. The (I)GCSE programme is comprised of both compulsory and optional subjects, allowing pupils to make some choices about the disciplines that they will engage in through the course of Years 10 and 11, whilst ensuring that key subjects are included and that a broad and balanced programme of study is maintained.
